ADMIN – Workshifts

Workshift is a distribution of worked time in a day – it can be a shift that is 8h long, a flexible shift that can be 6-10h long, a 4h-long shift for part-time workers, etc.

After you create Workshifts, please go to Calendar settings and then assign Calendars to employees.

If you want to set up Attendance module for your company, please check this separate manual on attendance settings.

Please note that only employees with special permissions can use this Administrator functionality.

Step 1 – Settings

Click on Settings and select Attendance.

Step 2 – Work shifts

Select Work shifts.

Step 3 – Select company

If you have access to set up more than one company, you must create work shifts for each company individually – select a Company.

Click + New work shift.

Step 4 – Details

Set up the details:

A) Standard

  • For example: an 8 hours long shift from 8:00 – 16:30, with a lunch break at 12:00.
  • Best for regular, even work time that should not be edited.
  • All shifts have the same length, start & end time, lunch break length and start & end time.

B) Flexible

  • For example, a shift with a default setting just like Standard shift – However, choosing a Flexible option allows the employee to edit some data. The shift can be 6-10 hours long, the start and end of the shift can be anywhere from 6:00-20:00 and the lunch break time and duration can also be edited.
  • All shifts are by default set up for a strict length, start & end time, lunch break length and start & end time
  • The difference is that employees can edit data based on the conditions allowed by an administrator in this setup (B).
    • Selective period – Employees can select their work time during that period only.
    • Mandatory period – If allowed, employees must include this period in their work time, no matter the start & end time.
    • Mandatory break after work – For example, after 6 hours of work, the employee is allowed to take a break. He/she musts take a break during that work shift (it can be taken even after 4 hours of work, but the employee musts work at least 6 hours in that shift).

Click Save.

Now you can go to Calendar settings to create calendars.
